The Sewing Fashionista first developed a love for sewing at the age of 16 from hanging around her ex boyfriend’s family apparel manufacturing business during the summer holidays. Her new-found passion eventually took her to studying fashion design at Ryerson University in Toronto. Upon finishing her degree she interned for a local designer for a year. When the designer left Toronto to go back to Vancouver, the Sewing Fashionista decided not to pursue a career in fashion. The Sewing Fashionista no longer works in the industry but still retain a love for constructing garments. This blog is her tribute to her passion.

Can you tell me where you get Mrs. Stylebook in Toronto?
Thanks
I have it special order from Sanko, a Japanese store on Queen St. West. I don’t think they order extra copy because its not a very popular magazine among the general public. You can check with them if they have extra copies. If you do decide to order through them they might ask for a deposit. I have been ordering the magazine through them for seven years. I also suggest you try purchasing it through eBay with vendor pomadour24. She has back issues and its slightly cheaper than Sanko. I hope that helps.
thanks for the info.

I just found your blog and I love it! I’m a fellow GTAer too! I read about the sport mesh that you used for your bridesmaid dresses. Could you let me know where you found this material? I went to my local Fabricland and they didn’t know what I was talking about. Do you have any good fabric stores that you would recommend in the GTA? Thanks so much!
I got the sport mesh from a fabric store call Fabric Fabric on Keele st. Its a big wearhouse with rolls and rolls of fabric not organized in any particular manner at the time I went. They have alot more of upholstrey fabric than fashion fabric. If you buy a lot of yardage you can negotiate a better price than what they quote you (the fabrics have no price attached to them, you have to ask a staff). Be patient because the store is not well organize and there aren’t alot of staff on the floor to assist you.
